Description
A rare and beautifully engineered West German classic. The Erma Werke EG722 is a smooth-cycling, slide-action (pump) rimfire rifle that combines traditional styling with robust engineering. Featuring a high-capacity under-barrel tubular magazine, an exposed hammer, and high-quality wood furniture, this iconic rifle is a fantastic addition for collectors, plinkers, and small-game hunters alike.
Manufactured in Dachau, West Germany, between 1970 and 1985, Erma Werke firearms are highly regarded globally for their precision manufacturing and historic value. While Erma is widely known for its iconic military trainer replicas (like the EM1), the EG722 stands out as a beautifully built commercial sporting carbine. Offering classic American “gallery gun” aesthetics combined with strict German engineering tolerances, these pump-actions are increasingly difficult to find on the UK market in good condition.
Action & Performance
The EG722 relies on a slick, short-stroke slide action (pump) mechanism. Cycling the action is incredibly satisfying, delivering positive feeding and crisp ejection. It is equipped with a generous 15-round under-barrel tubular magazine that handles standard .22 Long Rifle ammunition flawlessly, making it perfect for rapid-string target practice or efficient vermin control.
Build & Features
Barrel & Sights: Fitted with an 18.5″ blued steel barrel featuring a fixed hooded front sight and an elevation-adjustable rear notch.
Optics Ready: The top of the receiver features a factory-machined 11mm (3/8″) grooved rail, allowing you to effortlessly mount your choice of rimfire scope or red dot. This is currently fitted with a Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 3-9×40 scope.
Stock & Aesthetics: Features a traditional, straight-grained walnut-stained wood stock and matching ribbed forearm slide for a secure grip.
Safety: Utilizes a classic exposed-hammer mechanism, allowing the shooter to easily see and control the rifle’s status.
Takedown Capability: Designed with a simple dual-screw takedown system, making field-cleaning, bore maintenance, and transport exceptionally easy.
Whether you are looking to fill a slot on your FAC for a fun, dependable club rifle, or you are a rimfire enthusiast looking for a high-quality alternative to standard bolt-actions, the Erma EG722 delivers outstanding nostalgia and performance in equal measure.
